in supporting all those affected by
the disastrous fires
that started on "BLACK SATURDAY" in Victoria, Australia, in February 2009.

Action Undertaken
- Construct a chicken coop for a fire affected girl in Chum Creek Hold a BBQ for a Family Day run by the Shire for fire affected families at the
Healesville Sanctuary on 13 Nov 10. - Donate $4,500 to HICCI for the development of a Vulnerable People register for the Yarra Ranges area.
- Conducted a working bee at a Chum Creek property to cut and split fire damaged trees.
- Constructed fencing for property owners in the Chum Creek and Steels Creek areas during May/June 2010
utilising a fencing contractor and volunteers from Tasmania.
Transferred two donated trailers from the Yarra Glen Recover Centre (upon its closure) to the Labertouche Men's Shed. - Donated $4,500 towards the construction of coaches boxes for the Marysville Football Club.
- Provided $2,000 towards bench seating for the Reflective Garden at Galipolli Park in Marysville.
- Supplied an Anaesthetic and Vaporiser Unit for the Help for Wildlife ambulance.
- Coordinated the provision of 15 park benches provided by the RC of Bentleigh/Morrabin for the Steeles Creek, Chum Creek and Marysville community centres.
- Donated $20,000 towards a new generator and tanker for the Yarra Glen Fire Brigade.
- Provided the BBQ and drinks for the Chum Creek 7 Feb 10 commemorative activity.
- Cleared three Chum Creek properties of fallen trees and leaf litter during a weekend working bee with the Rotary Club of Ginninderra (ACT).
- Donated $4,000 to the Steels Creek Gardening Club for tree replanting.
- Provided $3,600 to the Marysville Play Group to fund social activities for the children.
- Working with the Rotary Club of Brinbank to provide coaches boxes for the Marysville Football Club.
- Funded the installation of four airconditioners for the Healesville CFA.
- Upgraded the kitchen and conference room for the Yarra Glen Recovery Centre.
- Conducted a working bee to assist the re-opening of the Bruno's Marysville Sculpture Garden.
- Established Club Bushfire Relief Fund to accept donations for projects.
- Links established with other networks for Volunteers, Tradespersons and information for medium, long term community recovery programs.
- Sponsored funding with Rotary District 9810 for Yarra Valley Professional Practitioners ( YVPP ) Clinic at Yarra Glen.
- Arranged and supported a Tasmanian team of 10 farmers ( with equipment ) to undertake fencing in Yarra Glen area.
- Sourced & delivered hay to farmers at Steeles Creek, Dixons Creek and Yarra Glen
- Supplied and erected a childrens playground at Marysville Temporary Village.
- Provide $10,000 to Salvation Army Recovery Centre at Healesville for purchase of winter bedding & clothing .
- Provide $ 5,000 to Yarra Glen Recovery Centre for purchase of winter clothing and bedding.
- Provide financial assistance to the Patchwork Collection charity group for production of doonas & quilts for Relief Centres.
- Supply and construct storage shedding and animal enclosures for animal rescue shelter at Chum Creek.
- Carry out extensive working bee at Marysville Temporary Village; painting, site clearing & construction of outdoor furniture.
- Supply 3 purpose-built trailers for Marysville Village Recovery Centre,
- Supply 2 purpose-built trailers for Yarra Glen Community Relief Centre.
- Direct and receive funds from Rotary Clubs nation-wide.
- Refurbishment of Healesville Relief Centre Building, with support from visiting Canadian Rotarians on Friendship Exchange Program.
- Immediate & ongoing support for Rotary members affected by Bushfire, with equipment & maintenance.( Club Funds)
- Donation ($5,000) to voucher system for materials issued from Yarra Glen Relief Centre.
- Supported "Rise !" Community Benefit Concert on April 19 th..
- Forwarded materials to relief centres from other Rotary Clubs.
- Represented on Shire Community Recovery Committees.
- Support for Community Day programs ( Film nights, barbecues ).
- Supported clearing of house site program.
- Funded 4 shipping containers for equipment storage for fire damaged properties at Chum Creek.
- Funded 20 nesting boxes for the "Friends of the Leadbeater Possum", for distribution in burnt areas of Yarra Ranges.
- Donated funds for fencing materials for farmers in Yarra Glen area.
- Assist with funds for delivery of 20 shipping containers to residences in Marysville region.
