Community Meals during COVID-19

Back in lockdown 1, we teamed up with HICCI - Healesville Inter-Church Community Care Inc. & Sanctuary House Resort Motel to provide a 2-course meal to vulnerable members of the community, after HICCI had to postpone their 'Dinner at Darrens' program when gathering restrictions came in.

In total, the wonderful team at sanctuary house provided over 1,400 delicious and nutritious dishes, which HICCI then distributed through their network of vulnerable people in Healesville & Yarra Glen.

Since our involvement in the project ended in June, My Little Kitchen, Real Larder & Sous Vide Australia stepped up to help continue providing HICCI with meals for their network of people, and we congratulate them for their donations to help those in need.

“This partnership has become much more than providing a nutritious two course meal. The majority of the recipients are elderly people living alone. The project has created a few check in’s via our volunteers delivering the meals and contacting them weekly by phone. Many of the recipients have commented that this service “Has been much more than a meal” and how much they appreciate that they have not been forgotten”.
